CAT2014 - What to do on the Test Day

Reporting for the Test- You should reach at least 1 hour at your allocated test centre before the scheduled time of test. This will allow time for security checks, identity verification and checking in. Candidates will need to bring:

1 CAT admit card

2 One photo identification

You will be required to keep any small personal items in a bag which will be stored away from testing area. Candidates will not be allowed to take anything into the testing place including wrist watch, cell phone, calculators etc.

The actual duration of the test is 2 hours and 15 minutes. Prior to the test, there will be 15 minutes tutorials to familiarise candidates with the layout of the screen and functionality available during the test. Candidates are advised to go through these tutorials. All candidates will start the test at the same time. Candidates are to remain at their seats for entire duration of the test even they complete their test early. No breaks will be given during the test. Each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper and pencils for calculations. Rough work is cannot be done on any other paper/sheet., as nothing will   be allowed inside the testing room.  After the test, candidate must return the scratch paper to the test centre administrator who will then check you out. The test consists of multiple choice questions that evaluate a candidate’s quantitative, verbal and logical & data interpretive abilities. There are a total of three sections and about 60 to 70questions in the test. Test centre administrators are not allowed to answer any questions pertaining to the test content. If you do not understand a question on the test, you should answer the question to the best of your ability. There is no penalty for questions that are left un-attempted and negative points will be given for the wrong answers only.

Test Centre Facilities- All the CAT test centres have been specifically selected if they meet Prometric’s standard.

Tutorials –Candidates are advised to go through the 15 minutes tutorial prior to the start of the test.

Time Management

The on screen timer is found on the top right corner of every screen. This counts down from 2 hours and 15 minutes so what you see is the time remaining for you to complete the test
