Entrance exams for admission to Engineering /  Architecture courses.

1 JEE (Main).JEE Main is a national level exam conducted for the admission to engineering colleges such as NIT,IITs and centrally funded technical colleges like IIST . It is also used as eligibility test for JEE Advanced.

It is conducted by CBSE and its notification comes out in the month of November and exam is usually conducted in the month of April/May.

Pattern of exam- Paper 1 is conducted offline as well as online and consists of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.2 Paper 2 is conducted only offline and it consist of Mathematics-1 and aptitude test and drawing test.

This 2nd paper is required for those who want admission in B.Arch and B.Planning. Those who are looking for engineering programs have to appear for paper-1 only. It can be given in English or Hindi.Maximum three attempts are permitted.

Eligibility for appearing in JEE is to have minimum 50 percent marks in Mathematics, Physics and any one subjects from (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) in aggregate.For those looking for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning must have secured 50 percent with other subjects in aggregate.

2 JEE Advanced- Its conducted jointly by IIT’s for admission to 16 IIT’s ISM Dhanbad for engineering courses in their institutes. Only those who have cleared JEE Main are eligible for this exam.Its held only after the result of JEE Main is declared.

Pattern of JEE Advanced. There are two papers of 3 hours duration. The question papers will be bilingual (in English and Hindi). Each of the question papers will consist of three separate sections of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Seat allotment in institutes is done based on category wise all India Rank in JEE advanced.

3 BITSAT
BITSAT is  online entrance exam after 12th for admission to integrated First degree programmes of BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
Eligibility:
Candidates should have passed the 12th class examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency in English.
First rank students of all the central and state boards in India are given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT  score as per the eligibility criteria.

Part III: (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV: Mathematics
All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice.  
Advertisement is out in the month of Dec and online tests is usually held in the month of May through June.
4 NATA
National Aptitude Test in architecture is for admission to B Arch in Government and Government aided and un-aided colleges of Architecture.
 NATA applications forms are available in the month of March and one can take the exam on any working day from March to Aug.
The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

5 Manipal University. For  admission to MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology) exam is usually conducted in the month of February by Manipal University for admission to various engineering programs .
